WWW Wednesday is hosted by ‘Taking on a World of Words’ every Wednesday and asks:
What are you currently reading?
What have you just finished reading?
What will you read next?
So, what am I currently reading?

Nightfall in New York by Katherine Woodfine
I’m not very far into this but I am LOVING it already. I read the rest of these as audiobooks and while I enjoyed the stories I really didn’t get on with the narration so I’m really glad to be reading this as a print version, I’m enjoying it all the more for it!

The Mermaid of Black Conch by Monique Roffey
This is only short but it’s taking me a while as I’m only reading a few pages at a time in the evenings. I think I’m enjoying it but honestly I’m not really sure!

The Unexpected Tale of Bastien Bonlivre by Clare Povey
I’m reading this for work and honestly so far I am not enjoying it! Please cross your fingers it improves…!
What have you just finished reading?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins, audiobook read by Santino Fontana
While I haven’t loved the narration, I did get used to it, and I’ve really enjoyed the book and seeing the beginnings of Coriolanus Snow. He was a character I wasn’t that fussed about in the grand scheme of the original trilogy but I found him fascinating here and loved the re-emergence of a certain other character in his history too.

Amari and the Night Brothers by BB Alston
I really enjoyed re-reading this, just as exciting and captivating as the first time round!

The False Rose by Jakob Wegelius
Loved, loved, LOVED it! Every bit as brilliant as The Murderer’s Ape! I really hope this won’t be the last we see of Sally Jones!

Laura Marlin Mysteries: Dead Man’s Cove by Lauren St John
I read this as part of the Mystery Society read along with Amy and Lily. We’re all following up our read with posts about it. You can read Amy’s here and Lily’s here, and mine will be posted on Friday!
What will you read next?
I need to choose an audiobook. I feel like I had a couple I was planning on but I’ve forgotten so I need to pick something to listen to!
I think the other books I’m reading will take a while so I’m not sure what’ll follow them yet…
Have you read any of these?
What are you reading at the moment?
Great list of books – I agree with you about The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. I wasn’t excited for Snow’s POV but it turned out to be a real interesting read.

Not all this week! Just needed a catch up since my last post a couple of weeks ago! This has brought us up to date! But it does feel good to be reading a bit more again, though I still stumble when I finish one and overwhelmed by choice for my next reads!

I’m so excited for your Dead Man’s Cove post!!! So pleased you like Nightfall in MY, but eek to your thoughts on Bastien Bon Livre so far! I was really excited for it but I’m NERVOUS now 😂
My last read was the Battle for Roar (which I thoroughly enjoyed!), I’m now onto the Midnight Hunt, and nest I’m thinking Otherland x

Awesome books here! I haven’t read Amari and the Night Brothers yet but my preorder arrived a couple of weeks ago so hopefully I’ll get to it soon! I have been curious about Songbirds and Snakes because I loved The Hunger Games books but I am a bit worried about it feeling a bit rubbish and unnecessary so I am glad to see you ended up liking it! x

Yes, I wasn’t sure how Songbirds would be either but I’d definitely recommend it! And I hope you enjoy Amari, it’s ace!

Ooh I have Nightfall in New York in my TBR stack and I’m looking forward to finding the time to read it. A friend recommended Mermaid of the Black Conch to me this week, so I shall look forward to hearing your opinion.
Interesting to see that you liked Songbirds … my daughter reacted so negatively to it after adoring the original trilogy that I didn’t bother reading it…I might have to revisit that decision now!

Oh yes, I remember now you saying she wasn’t keen. What was it she didn’t like?
I thought it turned Snow into a really fascinating character, really fleshed him out and made him much more complex and believable for me. It felt thought-provoking too, lots to ponder about the human condition, wealth, ideals vs realities…
If you do read it, stick to the text over the audio though!
I’m loving Nightfall!
And Mermaid isn’t bad at all, I definitely don’t dislike it. I just don’t feel grabbed by it either.

I think she just found it underwhelming compared to the original books. Possibly an age-related thing and being more invested in Katniss’ character?

Yes, that makes sense.
